Many In One Games - Firelord

Someone has seen what is going on in this years competition, the abundance of non games, particularly of an etch-a-sketch variant, and they have decided to address the balance by introducing 65532*2 games into the mix. This has significantly altered the ratio of Game to Non-game by 65521:1.

So who is this hero, who has come to my rescue? Why Firelord Quality Games of course. What could go wrong?

"I had to balance the lack of quality in the competition that started with all that non-gaming etch-a-sketch entries ! So, to restore the balance I am submitting the 2*65534 In 1 Games (or Many-In-1 games)! This entry contains a practically unlimited number of addictive games with original graphics never seen before in games! The game features and amazing intro with sound!"

- Firelord Quality Games, 2023

I begin the review with some trepidation, as it will take me most of my remaining years on this earth to review this one submission. Mercifully I soon realise that this is in fact just TWO very basic games, and the promise of also most infinite fun is, 100% clever Firelord Quality Games (FLQG) marketing. As is the claim of 'amazing intro with sound'

Intro? Well a black screen, then a menu that uses the FLASH command to mediocre effect, while the Spectrum does make sounds - so at least that part of the games description is accurate.

So what we actually have here is 2 games, that both use some sort of algorithm to define a UDG, of which there are 65521 versions - none of them good.

But how can I possibly know that none of them are good? I hear you cry.

WELL! FLQG has sent me a printout of every possibility, so I have been able to assess them all, at once, at remarkable pace. Like staring into the late night white noise of an old CRTV, the experience was somewhat mesmeric, but it is not something I would recommend others try.

So are these 2 games any good? Well one is a breakout style clone, and the other is a sort of dodge-em-up where you move left and right to dodge falling enemies. Because the UDG are so random the whole thing looks like the games have crashed. Total crap!

Which brings me to my final point...

Unwittingly, what Firelord has actually done is to submit 65521 versions of a single game (twice!). Surely this is a far bigger crime than there being two versions of etch-a-sketch in this competition.

With this submission FLQG commits a worse version of the same crime we are allegedly being save from!

Of course, my review willfully misses the point. It is the humor that is important here (I hope!), and I have been amused by this submission, the marketing, and hype that has come to be a big part of the FLQG experience. Try it for yourself here!
